For all of us out there who have children hopping up and down for summer vacation to begin I say….What are we going to do to make this summer memorable??
The fourth of July is always a hit! Look out Stateline Speedway here we come! Demolition derby’s are the best! There is Bible Camp at the end of July for 4 days for both the kids. A few week long, or weekend, Getaways to Grandmas house out in the woods. A place where the adventures are many and the tree forts are waiting to be claimed as towers of the forest unclimable by the ordinary man!
Between work and play there is much fun to be had. It is a delicate balance of freedom and structure as to not lose all the hard work and scheduling we have kept to all year.
Do you have the same concern as I do? Will they forget all that they learned over the past precious year of learning? The valuable information my son learned has a way of finding that little hole in his ear and flying like a bat outta hell going far away from his little memory bank. This summer I will not be putting him in summer school, unlike last summer, and instead he will have daily sheets of homework to complete and for me to check at the end of the day. Along with reading outloud to earn his very precious “Gaming” time.
